July 12th - Bankfoot at home

For the final 20/20 home game, Morley started their innings in awful fashion and at 23-5 they were facing posting a paltry total to defend. Ryan Dowse then batted sensibly for an unbeaten 30, and with support from Michael Cooper, a final total of 103-6 was reached.  Bankfoot never looked in much discomfort though as they knocked off the runs, with 20/20 specialist bowler Cooper and Richard Winn picking up 2 wickets each.

July 5th - Spen Victoria away
The 20/20 team recorded a dramatic win at Spen Victoria. The home side batted first and posted 121-5. Ash Daly (2), Rob Lintin-French (2) and Nathan Bromby took the wickets.

Morley always had plenty of wickets in hand in reply, but struggled to keep up with the run rate. Richard Jubb scored an excellent 48 before being run out, but Josh Walker timed his innings of 67 not out to perfection, securing the win with the penultimate ball of the game.

20/20 competition comes alive
The 20/20 competition really took off at Morley took on Hanging Heaton on Tuesday 30th June with a large crowd enjoying the mid-summer entertainment, a high scoring game and an amazing hat trick from the unlikeliest source.

Morley batted first and Richard Winn made his intentions clear with 4 fours in the first over. He was eventually out for 42 having peppered the boundary edge with some lusty blows.  No one else really got going to post a big score, and whilst the total of 146-4 was easily the team’s best so far, the feeling was it could easily have been more.

Hanging Heaton set off in a similar attacking mode and were keeping well up with the run rate. Morley captain Danny Lloyd was keeping wicket with usual keeper Michael Cooper fielding in the outfield.  At the half way point there more than a few raised eyebrows when Cooper was called up to bowl his slow left-armers that only usually get seen at Thursday night nets. Before long though it was voices that were being raised in incredulous cheers as Cooper produced the excellent figures of 5-22 including a hat trick! The on field celebrations were pretty impressive too!

The visitors stuck to their task however, and with 8 wickets down, edged the match with a leg bye from the penultimate ball of the innings.  The disappointment at the result soon faded though as everyone present agreed it had been a great night for the Cricket Club, with a possible glimpse at the future giving cause for optimism all round.

Morley CC is proud to have the backing of the Yorkshire Building Society during their 20/20 competition - many thanks to the YBS for your support!

June 7th - Bankfoot away
On Sunday the 20/20 team travelled to Bankfoot on a bitterly cold June day! Captain Danny Lloyd compiled 16 runs and Ash Daly top scored with 17, including two huge sixes from successive balls.  No one else reached double figures though and the innings closed on 91 all out.  Morley then picked up two early wickets, with one each for Tom Smith and Richard Winn, but there were no more to come as Bankfoot ran in comfortable winners by 8 wickets.

June 2nd - Hanging Heaton away
In the re-arranged game, the home side took the honours with a win by 41 runs.  The home side batted first and posted 153 runs off their 20 overs.  Ash Daly heading the bowling figures 3-20, Josh Walker 2-14 and Rob Lintin-French 2-23.  Morley got off to a reasonable start with opener Richard Jubb scoring 23 before being run-out  There was then a steady fall of wickets with Lintin-French ending the innings on 16 not out before the side was bowled out for 112 after 18.5 overs.

May 31st - Spen Victoria at home
20/20 came to Scatcherd Lane on Sunday and Morley looked the part in their Yorkshire Building Society sponsored coloured clothing. They played the part too, dismissing Spen Victoria for 92, with Nathan Bromby in great form, picking up 3 wickets. A generous helping of 45 extras was a major contribution to Morley easing home by 5 wickets.
